Maxtor Enters Enterprise Storage With New Class Of Storage Servers




ATLANTA, NETWORLD+INTEROP, Sept. 11 Maxtor Corporation, a worldwide leader in hard disk drives and storage solutions, today announced its entry into the enterprise network storage market with the MaxAttach NAS 6000, a highlyscalable storage server offering capacities up to 5.7 terabytes (TB).



The Windows Powered MaxAttach NAS 6000 offers broad interoperability and establishes a platform for innovative solutions such as email archiving, disktodisk backup, and volume aggregation. The enterpriseready MaxAttach NAS 6000 offers features specially designed for data center environments, backed by a comprehensive array of support services. PSM enables instant recovery of deleted or corrupted files. It supports Active Directory and is compatible with network management tools from leading vendors such as Computer Associates, HewlettPackard, and Tivoli Systems.

The MaxAttach family includes the NAS 4100, NAS 4300 and NAS 6000 storage servers. They install in less than 10 minutes with no network downtime and provide centralized management through a familiar, easytouse Web browser interface. They provide network status reporting, automatic email alerts and RAID 0, 1 and 5 data redundancy for data protection. Features include automatic restoring of the operating system should it become corrupted and automatic rebooting of the MaxAttach should the operating system lock up. Multiple Ethernet ports, Gigabit Ethernet, a journaling file system and integrated UPS support ensure high performance, system availability and fault tolerance. A SCSI port and preinstalled backup software enable local backup to tape.
